We all love a good deal, and a good deal on our birthday is even better. Though if you’re anything like me, you always find out about the deals too late! To help you (and me!) ensure you don’t miss out on some choice deals ahead of your next birthday, take a look at the below lists!

Free Birthday Sweets and treats
- Krispy Kreme – download the ‘Krispy Kreme Rewards’ app, or register via email, to access the free loyalty scheme – you’ll get a free doughnut of your choice to claim during your birthday month. You’ll also get a free doughnut just for signing up!
- Greggs – download the Greggs app and register for the ‘Greggs Rewards’ loyalty scheme to get a voucher for a cake or doughnut for your birthday (exclusions apply).
- Costa Coffee – download the app and join the ‘Costa Club’, add your birth date in the apps ‘settings’, and then claim your free cake on your birthday!
- Hotel Chocolat – Sign up to VIP.ME, add your date of birth and receive a surprise treat on your birthday.
Restaurants That Offer Free Food On Your Birthday
- Bella Italia – Join the Bella Italia club to get a birthday treat plus a free main on your next visit. They also have competitions you can enter for a chance to win a variety of prizes
- Frankie & Bennie’s – Register online and enjoy a free main meal on your birthday when two or more mains are ordered. Be sure to sign up at least 10 days before your birthday
- Las Iguanas – Sign up to their newsletter at least a week before your birthday & receive a free gift (usually a free meal when you buy at least 1 other main meal)
- Pizza express – join the ‘Pizza Express Club’ by downloading the app and registering. You’ll get free dough balls just for joining and will be upgraded to bronze membership the next time you dine in. Bronze membership gets you a free side dish every time you dine in, plus get a free dessert on your birthday (and if you get up to silver membership, you’ll get a free classic pizza on your birthday!).
Where To Get Free Birthday Drinks (for over 18s)
- All Bar One – download the app and register to receive ‘birthday treats and exclusive offers’. Rumour has it, this is a voucher for a free sharing cocktail.
- TGI Fridays – download their app in advance, then bring along 5 friends on your birthday to get a free cocktail or mocktail with each meal (the app user plus 5 friends).
- Pizza Express – Sign up for an account on their website (be sure to tick the box that adds you to their email list) and receive a ‘birthday surprise’ (rumoured to be a bottle of prosecco!).
- Café Rouge – Sign up for their newsletter and receive a free bottle of prosecco with your meal on your birthday.
Shopping Offers
- Accessorize – Join their loyalty club to get a ‘birthday treat’
- Body Shop – Join the ‘Love Your Body‘ loyalty card and get £5 to spend online or in store on your birthday
- Hobbycraft – Create an account and get a £5 birthday voucher on the day of your birthday (valid for up to 14 days after your birthday).
- Pets at home – join the pets at home VIP Club and get 10% off online, then 10% off in store (upon receipt of the welcome pack), plus a range of other benefits including a Birthday Bonus for your pet on their birthday (be sure to provide their birthday and your email address).
What to consider when looking for free birthday stuff
1. Most of these require you to download an app or sign up for a newsletter/rewards programme with your email. As apps can take up a lot of space on phones, best to go with signing up via email where possible.
2. Consider using an old email address, or creating a new ‘dummy’ account that you can just use for signing up to each website or app. This is so you don’t end up with an influx of emails flooding the inbox of your main account.
3. If you’re travelling on your birthday, particularly abroad, you may be able to get upgrades/freebies just by letting it be known that it is your birthday (consider bringing a birthday badge with you – particularly if it’s a ‘milestone’ birthday e.g. 21 or 50). James and I went to Spain on my birthday several years ago, and when we showed our passports to check in to the hotel, the concierge said happy birthday and then gave us a free room upgrade!

5. Sign up for newsletters/download apps etc well in advance of your birthday to ensure you don’t miss out (some require you to sign up at least a month in advance).
